    The same Wi-Fi name is not enough

    Guest networks, router device isolation, and VPNs can block local access. Start with a trusted, reachable LAN.

    Allow local network access

    Check the Windows private-network firewall rule and relevant Android permissions. Keep both apps running during transfer.

  3. 03

    Check free space and task state

    The receiver needs space for the file. After an interruption, check progress and connectivity before resuming or retrying.

What to know before you transfer.

Do my phone and PC need the same Wi-Fi?

They need the same reachable local network. Windows can use Ethernet while Android uses Wi-Fi. Even on one router, guest mode or device isolation may block access. Install and open the app on both devices.

Does file transfer need internet access?

Trial claims, first activation, account management, and updates need internet. The transfer itself does not while your trial or license is valid. Sending and receiving stop after the 3-day trial expires, even offline. Lifetime activation enables long-term offline transfer.

Are photos or videos compressed?

The app sends the selected photos and videos as files, without image compression or video transcoding. If another app already compressed the source, transferring it will not restore lost quality.

Can I send a whole folder?

Yes. Choose or drag a folder on Windows, or use the Android system folder picker. The app sends regular files recursively. Empty folders and symbolic links are skipped.

How fast is large-file transfer?

Speed depends on Wi-Fi signal, the router, LAN traffic, and storage performance on both devices. The app shows actual speed and progress. Numbers in the website demo are examples, not benchmark results.

Are files uploaded to CipherTransLocal servers?

No. Files and text move directly between devices on the LAN. Account services handle trials, licenses, and device management without receiving transfer content. Other backup software on the receiver may sync files according to your settings.

How can I try it, and can I buy it now?

Install the app and claim the free 3-day trial while online. No payment or activation key is needed, and each installation can claim once. The lifetime personal edition is currently US$5.99, reduced from US$9.90, for up to five active devices across Windows and Android by default. Checkout is not open yet. When it opens, checkout will show applicable taxes and the final total before confirmation.

Why might Windows show a SmartScreen warning?

The current Windows installer does not have Authenticode code signing. Download from the official site and verify the SHA-256 checksum. You do not need to disable Defender or turn off SmartScreen globally.
