Transfer files without internet access
Can Windows and Android transfer files without internet access?
No internet is different from no network. If the PC and phone still share a reachable LAN, the actual file can stay between the local devices.
THE FRICTION
Separate the licensing connection from the content connection.
Accounts, trials, first activation, and updates use the internet. The file route uses the LAN and does not need constant public access.
- 01Assume every LAN transfer must pass through cloud servers
- 02Test offline before first activation is complete
- 03Put the devices on different or isolated networks
- 04Ignore receiver storage or background limits
The route
Find the friction first, then choose the shorter route.
- 1
Verify device and network
- 2
Check the system conditions
- 3
Discover the target again
- 4
Follow transfer state
Why this feels simpler
Make the network boundary checkable.
Local content route
Text and files move between devices on the current reachable LAN.
Clear activation state
Claim the trial or activate while online before testing offline.
Visible offline progress
Local devices show transfer state without a cloud dashboard.
How to start
Complete a local transfer without internet access.
Both apps must already be installed and activated, and both devices must share one reachable LAN.
- 01
Activate or claim the trial while online
Registration, trial claims, and first activation use the internet.
- 02
Join one local network
The router may have no public access if the local devices can still reach each other.
- 03
Choose the destination device
Wait for the device to appear and verify that it belongs to you.
- 04
Verify the local result
Check filename, size, and completion; update downloads still need internet.
Privacy and security boundary
“Without internet” has a precise boundary.
Transferred text and files are not uploaded to CipherTransLocal servers. The product cannot control a router, operating system, or other sync tool.
- ✓First activation and updates need internet
- ✓Use a trusted network for offline transfer
- ✓Third-party sync may upload received files separately
FAQ
Offline transfer questions
Can I transfer with no network at all?
No. The devices need a shared reachable network. “Without internet” means the LAN remains available while public internet access is absent.
Can first activation happen offline?
No. Trial claims, first activation, and account management require internet access.
Will a public-internet outage stop a local transfer?
Not necessarily. If the LAN remains reachable, the actual transfer can continue.
Can I download updates offline?
No. Updates need internet access; updates and local file transfer use separate routes.
Do both devices need to use the same Wi-Fi?
They need to share one reachable local network. The PC can use Ethernet while the phone uses Wi-Fi if the networks still allow device-to-device access.
Does LAN file transfer require internet access?
First activation, account management, and updates use the internet. Actual text and file transfer happens on the reachable LAN and does not require a constant internet connection.
Why are devices missing even on the same Wi-Fi?
Guest mode, AP or client isolation, Windows Firewall, VPNs, virtual adapters, and Android background limits can block device discovery.
Can I transfer a file that is tens of gigabytes?
Large files are supported, but completion depends on receiver capacity, file system, Wi-Fi stability, and storage performance.
Will a received file be uploaded to cloud storage?
CipherTransLocal does not upload content to its licensing server. If the receiving folder is covered by OneDrive, Gallery, or another sync tool, its settings decide whether it uploads.
Does the free trial require a payment method?
No. The current three-day trial needs no payment method and no lifetime activation key.
Activate online, then let the LAN handle the handoff.
Test one local transfer and confirm the internet-versus-LAN boundary on your devices.
